With funding from the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, the Connecting Cambridgeshire programme installed travel information screens in 11 market towns across the county in November 2021.
The travel information screens follow in the footsteps of the original demo SmartPanel screens, which have been trialled in the foyers of public buildings and large companies in and around Cambridge since 2018.
Offering live and time-tabled travel data the travel information screens have been customised to each location to show live bus and train times, road traffic maps and weather reports. They use a combination of real-time and static, timetabled data to provide more accurate predictions of travel times and encourage the use of sustainable transport options.
Travel screens have been installed in libraries at Chatteris, Ely, Huntingdon, March, Ramsey, St Ives, Whittlesey and Wisbech, the Co-Op in Soham, the Priory Centre in St Neots and New Shire Hall in Alconbury.
