The Smart team worked with AppyWay in 2019 to digitise Cambridge’s Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
TROs are legal documents used for governing the kerb (for example to restrict the movements of HGVs in residential areas, to implement parking restrictions or to restrict traffic for the purposes of roadworks, parades, street parties and other events) and build a management tool for creating or changing orders.

Through Innovate UK funding and with developmental help from Cambridgeshire County Council and the Smart team, AppyMapper has been built to address the challenges local authorities around the UK face today whilst also unlocking the TRO data that will enable the intelligent mobility solutions of the future. With standardised kerbside data available via smart APIs, fleet operators, transportation providers and mobility developers will be able to provide better services and solutions for Cambridge residents, businesses and visitors.
